The Role of Educational Institutions in Drug Prevention: A Workshop

As part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week activities, aimed at raising community awareness of the dangers of drug use and trafficking, spreading a culture of prevention among members of society, and supporting national efforts to reduce this serious scourge, the College of Archaeology, University Psychological Counseling Division, in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Department at the University of Mosul, held a workshop entitled “The Role of Educational Institutions in Drug Prevention.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Khalis Abdulkarim Farman on Tuesday, December 18, 2025. He discussed the responsibilities of educational institutions (schools and universities), which play a pivotal and fundamental role in drug prevention. This role is no less important than that of the family or security institutions; in fact, it is proactive and protective, aiming to safeguard young people during their most sensitive and vulnerable age groups.
