– A master’s thesis in the College of Archaeology discussing (verb in the Akkadian language – a morphological study)

on Sunday, April 30, 2023, The Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages at the College of Archeology at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Verb in the Akkadian language – a morphological study) in the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Souf in the college.

The thesis presented by the student (Yasmine Abdel-Aziz Ezz El-Din) dealt with the study of the verb in the Akkadian language – a morphological study, and one of the most important linguistic studies, especially “that the verb is one of the most important parts of speech, as well as the importance of the Akkadian language, as it is the oldest Semitic language in terms of the history of codification.

The study dealt with the definition of the verb and the statement of its types, tenses and details with extreme accuracy in terms of its root, stem and semantics of its meanings, as well as studying the formulation of the Akkadian verb in its four main cases, its formulation and conjugation, as well as the study of the secondary forms, the quadruple verbs and the adjuncts of the verb from the pronouns.

The study aims to help undergraduate studies students and researchers who are interested in this language to understand the actual Akkadian formulas, their harshest, and to formulate their cases in a comprehensive and detailed way to come up with the best results that help to understand the rules of this language more broadly and comprehensively.

The discussion/ viva committee was chaired by Professor Khaled Salem Ismail, with membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Aram Jalal Hassan/ Salahaddin University/ College of Arts/ Department of Archeology and Lecturer Dr. Abdul Sattar Ahmed Hussein, and under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Abdel Nafeh Amin.
