The Department of Archeology discussed the master’s thesis entitled “blueprintsfor administrative and government buildings in the city of Mosul at the end of the Ottoman”era. On Thursday morning, 29/9/2022 in Abi Tammam Hall, a viva was held to the researcher Walaa Atallah Mahmoud Al-Nuaimi.The thesis dealt with the beginnings of the emergence and development of the role of governance and administration in the city of Mosul during the Arab and Islamic eras starting with the formation of the first Emirate house during the era of Caliph Al-Faruq Omar Ibn Al-Khattab in the city of Mosul in the year 16 AH in the ancient Qleia’at area and then its transformation during the Umayyad era to the Manqousha Palace that was built by it. Then, it was transformed during the Abbasid era at the Prophet Zarzis Mosque and the expansion of its administrative and civil functions, and then it moved at the beginning of the Ottoman era at Millat al-Midan, opposite the door of the old bridge, where the Ottomans built the famous inner fortress of Baig Castle and moved to it.
