A PhD dissertation at the Department of Arabic Language, on: (Psychological toughness in the poetry of Ibn Darraj Al-Qastali, d. 421 AH)
The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Mosul discussed the doctoral thesis entitled: (Psychological toughness in the poetry of Ibn Darraj Al-Qastali, d. 421 AH) on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023, at Ibn al-Atheer Hall in the College of Arts. The discussion was attended by a number of college teachers and postgraduate students.
The study, presented by Sabah Faris Ahmed, is presented to explore the horizon of the character of Ibn Darraj al-Qastalli in order to reveal his psychological characteristics and identify the manifestations of the strength of his character through his poetic proposals. Relying on a psychological term that performs this task perfectly, which is (psychological toughness), which is based on three dimensions: commitment, challenge, and control. As every character, in which these dimensions emerge in the dealings and reactions to the events of his life and the engagement of tragedies is called a character with solidity and strength. The study relied on the psychological approach in dealing with the literary texts used in the research sample, to reach the depths of the poet’s self and interrogate its subconscious aspects, and discover the truth of its poetic propositions and the manifestations of power spread throughout his poems.
