A PhD dissertation entitled “The Rhythmic Structure of Al-Hutheiliyeen Poetry” has been examined at the Department of Arabic, College of Arts, University of Mosul, on Sunday 9th of June 2024. The viva session was attended by the Vise-president for Scientific Affairs Prof. Dr. Munir Salim Taa, the dean of the College of Arts Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ali Ufen, the coordinator of the Arabic Department, and some academics of the college. The dissertation by Huda Mohammed Mahmood Mohammed, majored in Islamic Literature, shows the collection of old literary works of Al-Hutheiliyeen which is of great historical, educational, and literary value, and reflects the life of Arabs and their styles during the Islamic and Pre-Islamic stages. The high quality of their poetry was the rationale behind selecting the study of Rhythm in their poetry, and exploring the Islamic poetry as a heritage that the Arabs feel proud of, though many of Hutheil poets’ dates of death were not specified by the historians; they lived between the pre-islamic times and Islam.
