Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Hamoud, a lecturer in the Translation Department, published a research in the Medad Al-Adab Journal at the College of Arts, Iraqi University, under the title: “The Translation of English Food Idioms into Arabic Through ChatGPT: Problems and Solutions.”

The study sought to investigate the translation of English nutritional terms into Arabic through translation of GPT chat. The main objectives of this study are to investigate to what extent the meaning of English food idioms in Arabic translation using ChatGPT has been preserved during the translation process and to determine whether the translation of English food idioms into Arabic has applied Newmark’s theory of semantic or communicative translation. A qualitative descriptive research approach was used in both data collection and analysis. The study concluded that these difficulties can be overcome by identifying GPT synonyms for English food expressions in the target text and finding the exact equivalent in Arabic without adding or deleting unnecessary elements.
