A new book entitled “Mispunctuation and Translation” by Professor Dr. Yasir Younis Abdulwahid
A new book entitled “Mispunctuation and Translation” by Professor Dr. Yasir Younis Abdulwahid, a professor in the Translation Department at our college, has been published by Noor Publishing. The book tackles the impact of misuse of punctuation marks on the translation of English texts into Arabic for both human and machine translation. The study samples included 54 BA, 14 MA, and 12 PhD students from the Translation Department at our college, in addition to 3 machine translation programs. The translation of 1290 sentences was analyzed and evaluated, and the results showed an error rate of 33% in human translation compared to the superiority of machine translation with an error rate of 26%.
