A Master’s Theses Titled “Assessing the Translation of Persuasive Techniques in English Political Texts into Arabic “ Examined at the Department of Translation

The Translation Department at the College of Arts at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis titled “Assessing of the Translation of Persuasive Techniques in English Political Texts into Arabic” on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in the Ibn Al-Athir Hall at the College of Arts. The discussion was attended by several faculty members and graduate students.
The thesis, presented by student Hala Khalid Mohammed, addressed the evaluation of persuasive tools used in English political texts. The thesis aimed to analyze the language and persuasive techniques used by well-known political figures and study the extent to which failure to understand the rhetorical functions of these techniques might distort persuasive texts when translated into Arabic.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Nihad Ahmed from the College of Arts at the University of Mosul, with the membership of Dr. Osama Misbah Mahmoud, Associate Professor at the College of Arts, University of Mosul, and Assistant Professor Anwar Abdul Wahab Jassim, also from the College of Arts, University of Mosul. The thesis was supervised and discussed by Assistant Professor Dr. Anfal Qabees Said from the College of Arts, University of Mosul.
