PhD Dissertation on “The United States’ Position on Military Coups in Pakistan (1958–2008)”

The History Department at the College of Arts held a PhD dissertation defense on the United States’ position on military coups in Pakistan from 1958 to 2008, on Thursday, April 10, 2025. The session was attended in part by Professor Dr. Mohammed Ali Mohammed Afeen, Dean of the College, along with several faculty members.
The dissertation, presented by student Tareq Ibrahim Aswad from the History Department, explored the U.S. stance toward the coup-led governments in Pakistan and how the United States dealt with these coups from 1958 to 2008.
The study aims to clarify the position of the United States on the phenomenon of military coups in Pakistan during the period 1958–2008.
