Under the esteemed patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hatim Fahd Al-Taie, Dean of the College of Arts, the Department of Sociology held its scientific seminar titled “Intellectual Extremism: Causes and Implications” on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the Scientific Forum Hall.
The seminar was attended by the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Hatim Fahd Al-Taie, along with a number of academic, religious, and security figures, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The research papers presented by the participating scholars addressed the topic of intellectual extremism, which often leads to violent behavior and terrorism. This phenomenon is both social and political in nature, involving the adoption of rigid and inflexible ideas and beliefs that lack respect for others. It is not inherently tied to any specific religion or culture, as it can be found across various cultural contexts.
