Higher Diploma Thesis on the Social Dimensions of Municipal Services and Their Role in Sustaining Community Peace

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts held a defense for a Higher Diploma thesis, equivalent to a Master’s degree, titled “The Social Dimensions of Municipal Services and Their Role in Sustaining Community Peace: A Field Study in Nineveh Plains.” The session was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Firas Abbas Fadil, and several faculty members.

The study, presented by Akram Fadil Mohammed Salih from the Department of Sociology, examined the role of municipal services in mitigating local conflicts, fostering a sense of community belonging, reducing social disparities, and promoting dialogue among various societal components.

This research aimed to reveal the role of the social dimensions of municipal services in sustaining community peace in the Nineveh Plains and to analyze their impact on enhancing social stability and cohesion.
