Selçuk University Professor Joins Doctoral Dissertation Committee at College of Arts

In a demonstration of academic cooperation and engagement with international universities, Professor Dr. Mustafa Mustafa Demirci from the College of Arts – Selçuk University, Republic of Turkey, participated as a committee member in a doctoral dissertation defense held at the College of Arts, University of Mosul.

The Department of History at the College of Arts discussed a doctoral dissertation titled “Works of Scholars of the Islamic East in the Abbasid Era in More Than One Language” on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The session was attended by Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, Dean of the College, Dr. Mahmoud Saleh Saeed, Head of the Department, and several faculty members.

The study, submitted by student Mahmoud Jirjees Abboush Ibrahim in the Department of History, focused on the scholarly works produced by scholars of the Islamic East during the Abbasid era in multiple languages. The research aimed to identify the fields of knowledge in which books were authored in both Arabic and Persian by scholars from the Islamic East.
