Ph.D. Dissertation Defense

 

The Department of History at the College of Arts held a defense for a doctoral dissertation on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The dissertation, titled “Tribal Rebellions and Their Impact on Morocco, 1873-1912,” was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Ta’i; the Head of the Department, Dr. Mahmoud Salih Sa’id; and several faculty members.

The study, submitted by student Omar Mohammed Taha Al-Khafaji, examined the tribal rebellions in Morocco between 1873 and 1912 and their political, economic, and social effects. The dissertation aimed to highlight the significance of these rebellions and their role in the country’s history, culminating in the establishment of the French protectorate in 1912.
