Master’s Thesis on the Poetry of Al-Aswad bin Ya’fur Al-Nahshali: A Rhetorical Analysis
The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts defended a Master’s thesis titled: “The Poetry of Al-Aswad bin Ya’fur Al-Nahshali: A Rhetorical Analysis (Dirāsa Bayāniyyah).”
The defense took place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, with the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, attending part of the session.
The study, submitted by candidate Abdullah Mahmoud Abdullah in the Arabic Language Department, focused on illustrating the manifestations of artistic creativity and the utilization of rhetorical arts (funūn al-bayān) in the poet’s work.
The research aims to uncover the various rhetorical styles (al-asālīb al-bayāniyyah), such as Simile (al-Tashbīh), Metaphor (al-Isti’ārah), and Metonymy (al-Kināyah).
