History Seminar on “New History and the Horizons of Scientific Research”

Under the distinguished patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahad Hanno, and the supervision of the Head of the Department of History, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Saleh, the Department of History and the Continuing Education Unit jointly hosted a significant seminar titled “New History and the Horizons of Scientific Research,” masterfully presented by Emeritus Professor Dr. Hashim Yahya Al-Mallāh on Monday, October 6, 2025. This event was crucial as it highlighted New History—a vital contemporary trend seeking to fundamentally renew historical methodology by shifting from traditional narratives to a critical, analytical reading of sources through a modern, multi-disciplinary lens. The seminar, which saw strong attendance from faculty and postgraduate students, concluded by emphasizing the imperative for academic research to embrace methodological transformation to advance historical thought and keep pace with global intellectual developments, fostering dynamic and enriching scholarly discussions among attendees.
