The Role of Multiple Assessment Sources in Developing Productive Skills of EFL University Students: A Comparative Study
The English Department at the College of Arts successfully hosted the defense of a doctoral dissertation titled: “The Role of Multiple Assessment Sources in Developing Productive Skills of University Students Studying English as a Foreign Language (EFL): A Comparative Study.” The defense took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The event was attended by high-ranking faculty members, including the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Ta’ee, the Head of the Department, Dr. Salih Abdullah Abdulrahman, and numerous teaching staff from the College.
The Study and Its Objectives
- Candidate: Huda Kanaan Hamza (English Department).
- Study Focus: The research explored the various types of multiple assessment sources and their pivotal role in developing the writing and speaking skills (productive skills) of undergraduate university students.
The primary objectives of the study were:
- To compare the effectiveness of self-assessment, peer assessment, and teacher assessment in enhancing the productive skills of university students.
- To investigate the students’ opinions and perspectives regarding the training sessions they received and the significance of these sessions in developing their productive skills.
