Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Ghanim Sharif, a faculty member in the History Department at the College of Arts – University of Mosul, has completed the translation of a Turkish book titled “Ismet İnönü: Hero of the National Struggle.”

The book focuses on the biography of Ismet İnönü, one of the most prominent figures in the history of the modern Turkish Republic, who combined military and political leadership. He played a pivotal role in solidifying the foundations of the new state and shaping its directions before the official declaration of the Republic.

The translator explained that her choice of this work was not accidental but was based on the importance of this figure for understanding the nature of Turkish political work and the establishment of its first institutions. She noted that translating such works from Turkish to Arabic contributes to enriching the Arabic library with original sources, providing researchers and academics with a deeper understanding of modern Turkish history and its political and intellectual interactions.

This achievement comes as part of the College of Arts’ efforts to support the translation movement and build bridges of scientific and cultural communication between the Arabic and Turkish languages.
