Master’s Thesis Discusses Hospitality Traditions in Andalusia
The Department of History at the College of Arts discussed a Master’s thesis titled “Hospitality Traditions in Al-Andalus (138-897 AH / 756-1492 CE)” on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Ta’i, the Head of the Department, Dr. Salih Mahmoud Saeed, and a number of the College’s faculty members attended part of the defense.
The study, presented by student As’ad Siddiq Khattab in the History Department, addressed the role of hospitality in Al-Andalus, including the places of reception, the serving of food and drink, the offering of gifts and money, and the provision of necessary protection for the guest.
The study aims to highlight the most prominent hospitality traditions followed in Al-Andalus and their role in creating an atmosphere of interaction and peaceful coexistence.
