Higher Diploma Thesis Defense: “Peace Contents in Mural Art in Mosul City (An Analytical Study)”
The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts hosted the defense of a Higher Diploma thesis titled “Peace Contents in Mural Art in Mosul City (An Analytical Study)” on Monday, December 8, 2025. The defense was partially attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, the Head of the Department, Dr. Firas Abbas Fadhel, and several faculty members.
Study Focus and Objectives
The study, presented by the student Ayah Qaidar Ardini in the Sociology Department, focused on analyzing the mural art of Mosul.

Key Areas of Analysis: The research examined the symbolic, textual, and aesthetic contents of peace present in the city’s mural art, alongside the function of this art in delivering peaceful messages related to various societal issues.

Core Objectives: The study aimed to reveal the contents and significations of peace within the mural art and determine how mural art is utilized to express the social, political, and cultural issues of the community.
