Doctoral Dissertation Defense: “History of Sub-Saharan Africa in Arabic and Arabized Studies”

The Department of History at the Faculty of Arts hosted a Doctoral dissertation defense titled “History of Sub-Saharan Africa in Arabic and Arabized Studies” on Thursday, December 30, 2025. Part of the session was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, the Head of the History Department, Dr. Mahmoud Saleh Saeed, and several faculty members.

The study, presented by the doctoral candidate Miqdad Younis Ahmed Al-Chalabi, aims to monitor economic systems, social structures, and the role of Islam and local culture in shaping the civilizational identity of the region. The significance of this research lies in its role as a gateway to a deeper understanding of Africa’s position in human history, highlighting its active role in the process of cultural and economic exchange between nations and kingdoms.
