Reviving Arabic Arts and Oratory at Mosul University

Two faculty members from the College of Arts at the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Ammar Ismail Ahmed and Professor Dr. Abdullah Khalif Khudair, are participating in a training course aimed at reviving the arts of the Arabic language and oratory. The course is a collaborative effort between the University of Mosul, the General Directorate of Education of Nineveh, and several cultural and educational institutions, including: Books’ Platform, the Return of Al-Najafi Street Forum, Al-Sharqia National School, and the Youssef Thanoun Center for Historical Studies and Research.
The program, which began on Saturday, September 13, 2025, and runs until September 24, 2025, covers several key areas:
- Arabic calligraphy
- Spelling and dictation
- Creative writing (expression)
- Public speaking and oratory
- Poetry memorization and comprehension
This initiative is designed to develop the skills of students between the ages of 10 and 18. Its goal is to improve their handwriting, enhance their expressive and public speaking abilities, and sharpen their capacity for memorization and comprehension. The program aims to boost their academic progress and restore the prominence of Arabic language and its aesthetic arts.
