Bridging Arts and Sciences: Innovative English Language Initiatives for Pharmacy Postgraduates

Assistant Professor Dr. Huda Al-Halawchi, a faculty member of the Department of English at the College of Arts, organized two distinctive student-led activities for postgraduate students (Diploma and Master’s) at the College of Pharmacy. Held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the courtyard of the College of Pharmacy, these initiatives were part of the continuing education curriculum and conducted in collaboration with the College’s Postgraduate Studies Department.

The Initiatives

The program featured two creatively themed activities designed to merge pharmaceutical knowledge with linguistic application:

  • Activity I: “Diploma Candidates’ Insight: The Rx from the Wild”

  • Activity II: “Pharmacy for the Planet: Mastering Medication Management”

Objectives and Impact

The primary goal of these activities was to provide postgraduate students with practical training in the English language beyond the traditional classroom setting. By engaging in interactive seminars and simulations, students were prepared to:

  • Participate effectively in local and international scientific conferences and forums.

  • Develop advanced academic communication skills.

  • Build professional confidence when expressing complex scientific concepts in English.

This interdisciplinary collaboration underscores the importance of English proficiency in the global scientific community and highlights the College of Arts’ role in supporting academic excellence across various disciplines.
