About the Department
The department was established in the 2008-2009 academic year at the University of Mosul/College of Arts, similar to other academic departments, as an academic platform for teaching Turkish language and literature. It awards a bachelor’s degree in this specialization, in accordance with the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The department is one of the college’s leading departments, devoting its efforts to preparing qualified scientific and academic cadres with high proficiency in the use of the Turkish language and the analysis of Turkish literature in its various dimensions. The department adopts advanced educational and research programs aimed at enhancing students’ linguistic, analytical, and critical skills, enabling them to keep pace with rapid scientific and cognitive developments in this field. The department seeks to keep pace with global developments by incorporating modern topics into its curricula and research plans, such as artificial intelligence and its applications in language, sustainable development, and peaceful coexistence. It also highlights the role of women in society and empowers them through literature and cultural criticism. Graduating specialized Turkish language personnel to serve the cultural, economic, and social aspects of life. Strengthening ties with neighboring Türkiye through cultural and scientific exchange. Preparing students for work in translation and teaching in public schools.
