Vision, Mission and Objectives-Dept. of Media

Vision:

The department’s vision is based on providing high-level, modern academic programs and graduating highly competent media professionals. It focuses on applying quality standards in university media education, activating cooperation mechanisms with academic and professional institutions inside and outside Iraq, and employing production technologies for media, including publishing, writing, photography, and television production. Furthermore, it emphasizes understanding digital publishing and digital photography, using operating systems via the World Wide Web, and adhering to professional ethics.

Message

The department aims to prepare qualified media professionals in the fields of journalism, media, and television, develop their skills, and utilize artificial intelligence in what is published on social media networks. It also seeks to use AI in developing media curricula and integrating sustainable development concepts into academic media and journalistic policies, thereby enhancing sustainable education to create a suitable learning environment.

Objectives

The department aims to:
  1. Provide students with solid theoretical and practical information in journalism and train them in the art and skills of journalistic writing, investigative reporting, and the collection, classification, writing, editing, and publishing of all information.
  2. Train students in the skills of preparing, writing, and publishing scientific research, and using artificial intelligence technologies in developing digital media and in media content creation to meet labor market demands.
  3. Qualify and graduate specialized media professionals in journalism, radio, and television to support media institutions in the governorate and meet their needs for specialized staff.
  4. Collaborate with international academic and research institutions, and open constructive and effective communication channels with peer higher education institutions locally, regionally, and internationally, in order to keep pace with developments in the field of communication technology revolution and new media.
  5. Achieve communication between the department and society and journalistic institutions through organizing seminars, lectures, and discussion panels on media issues.
  6. Support and develop the educational process and training programs in the fields of media and communication, as well as prepare specialized academics in media (journalism, radio, and television), to open postgraduate studies (Master’s) in the department in the future, and to develop the media sector (journalism, radio, television, public relations) in Iraq.
