Discussion of MSc thesis in the College of Dentistry / Conservative Dentistry
MSc thesis was discussed under the title:
“Effect of different curing temperatures and photo-curing devices on the degree of polymerization and color fastness of a single-block-packed composite resin material (lab study)”
The student, Dalia Khaled Ahmed, Department of Conservative Dentistry, dealt with the evaluation of temperatures on the degree of polymerization and color stability, in addition to the evaluation of photo-hardening devices of the second generation single wavelength and the third generation multi-wavelength on the degree of polymerization and color stability of the composite resin with a single-mass filling using a device FTIR-ATR infrared spectrophotometer to measure the degree of polymerization, and a colorimeter to measure the degree of color change.
The study proved that there was a significant difference on the degree of polymerization and color change of the composite resin with a one-block packing according to the storage temperature and the type of photo-curing device, as raising the temperature of the resin material to an increase in the degree of polymerization regardless of the type of photo-curing device used. The results showed that heating the composite resin material led to a decrease in the degree of color change and that the use of multi-wavelength photo-curing device led to an increase in polymerization and a decrease in the degree of color change.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Maan Mowaffaq Naif/ Al Noor University College/ Department of Dentistry with membership each of Dr. Emad Farhan Ali and Dr. Ali Moayad Rashid, membership and supervision
Dr. Manal Abdul-Jabbar Sultan.
The thesis was accepted after making the necessary modifications.
