Oral viva of master thesis at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/ College of Dentistry

College of Dentistry discussed M.Sc. Thesis entitled “Evaluating the Local & Systemic Effects of Silicon Dioxide on Healing of Mandibular Bone in Rabbits” on 12 May 2022 forwarded by Zena Saady. The study evaluated and compared the efficiency of silica when it was given as daily regular doses or locally to surgically made bony defects in mandibular bone of rabbits by biochemistry, radiographical and histological and bone density assessment. It was proved by the study that the silica had a beneficial effect in accelerating the bone growth when it was given both locally and systemically with the perfect response when it was used as daily oral food supplement.
The examination Committee was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ziyad Hazim Ahmed / College of Dentistry/ University of Mosul and with the membership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Biraa Sultan / Department of Dentistry/ Al-Hadbah College University and Lect. Dr. Abd Alsattar Salim Mahmood/ College of Dentistry/ University of Mosul and with supervision and membership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Salih Sulaiman/ Department of Dentistry/ Al-Maaref College University and Prof. Dr. Ghada Abd Alrahman Taqa/ College of Dentistry/ University of Mosul.
The thesis was accepted after making the recommended corrections.
