College of Dentistry discussed Ph.D. dissertation entitled ” Role of Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1 and Osteogenic Supplement in Reducing Orthodontic Relapse (A Rabbit Model Study)” on 5 September 2024 forwarded by Saba Hazim Hasan. The study evaluated the effect of transforming growth factor beta 1 and osteogenic supplement on the alveolar bone and periodontal ligament remodeling, and the possible ability to reduce the orthodontic relapse. It was proved by the study that the transforming growth factor beta-1 had a positive effect on enhancing bone remodeling by increasing bone formation and decreasing bone resorption, thus enhancing tooth stability and subsequently reducing relapse. In addition, the osteogenic supplement had reduced the relapse rate as compared to the positive control group due to its osteogenic effect.
