Oral viva of master thesis at the Department of Pedodontics, Orthodontics, and Preventive Dentistry/ College of Dentistry

College of Dentistry discussed M.Sc. thesis entitled ‘‘Effect of Different Coffee Types in Progression of De- Remineralization and Staining on Enamel Surface with or without Fluoride Protection”, on Monday, August 25, 2025. Forwarded by Hussein Ibrahim Hamada. The study investigated and compared on the effectiveness of various types of coffee (black coffee, coffee with milk, iced coffee, mocha, and coffee cream) on the enamel surface in terms of surface roughness and staining. The study also examined the efficacy of fluoride varnish in reducing mineral loss and enhancing remineralisation when applied prior to exposure to the different coffee types. It was concluded by the research that the five commercial coffee types had varying effects on enamel surfaces with respect to roughness and discolouration, compared with the control groups.
