A Scientific Discussion at the College of Dentistry on Referred Pain and Its Clinical Mechanisms
As part of the activities of the Department of Basic Dental Sciences at the College of Dentistry, University of Mosul, a scientific discussion session was held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, entitled:
“Referred Pain: Characteristics, Possible Mechanisms, and Clinical Management.”
The session was presented by Prof. Dr. Maha Talal, who discussed the topic of referred pain, its causes, explanatory theories, and the practical applications of this concept in various fields, particularly in dentistry. She also explained its mechanisms and how understanding them can aid in diagnosing different types of pain.
The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ghada Abdulrahman Taqa, Head of the Department of Basic Dental Sciences, with the attendance of several faculty members of the department who enriched the discussion with their valuable scientific contributions and insights.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Maha Talal answered the participants’ questions and inquiries related to the topic, emphasizing its importance in developing research skills and enhancing the scientific understanding of both faculty members and students at the college.
