College of Dentistry

 

As part of the University of Mosul’s Continuing Education Program for the 2025–2026 academic year, the College of Dentistry / Department of Conservative Dentistry organized a training course entitled “Tooth Whitening”, held from October 19 to 23, 2025, with the participation of the departments and college’s teaching staff.

The course aimed to acquaint participants with the latest scientific techniques in the field of tooth whitening, explain the effects of bleaching agents on teeth and their supporting structures, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages associated with vital and non-vital bleaching methods. It also sought to clarify the factors influencing the success of whitening procedures and how to manage tooth sensitivity resulting from them.

The course included a series of scientific lectures delivered by a distinguished group of faculty members, covering the following topics:

Effect of Bleaching Materials on Teeth and Supporting Structures – Assist. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Salim Qasim

Advantages and Disadvantages of Tooth Whitening – Lecturer Omar Salah Majeed

Non-Vital Bleaching – Assist. Lecturer Mohammed Abduladeem

Principles of Tooth Whitening – Assist. Lecturer Mohammed Hazem Qasim

Factors Affecting Whitening Success – Assist. Lecturer Ahmed Hazem Mohammed

Vital Bleaching Techniques – Assist. Lecturer Alaa Hussein Ali

Tooth Sensitivity Resulting from Whitening and Its Management – Assist. Lecturer Israa Mowafaq Atash

The course was held in the Department’s Seminar Hall, under the supervision and follow-up of the Head and Rapporteur of the Conservative Dentistry Department and the Continuing Education Officer, with direct oversight from the Dean of the College, Assist. Prof. Dr. Neam Riyadh Saleem. The Dean of the College emphasized the importance of such activities in enhancing the efficiency of academic and clinical staff and strengthening their practical skills in the field of cosmetic dentistry.
