College of Dentistry

 

The Human Rights Unit, the Studies and Planning Division, and the Sustainable Development Committee at the College of Dentistry organized a workshop on Tuesday, December 2, in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Unit/Studies and Planning Department and the Human Rights Division at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, entitled “Approaches to Advancing Gender Equality.”

The workshop was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan, faculty member at the College of Law and Head of the Legal Affairs Division at the College of Dentistry, in the presence of Assist. Prof. Dr. Neam Riyadh Saleem, Dean of the College, in addition to a representative from the Human Rights Division at the Presidency of the University of Mosul.

The workshop was organized in response to institutional efforts aimed at enhancing community awareness within the university environment and promoting the principles of gender equality among students and academic staff, thereby contributing to a more just and balanced educational setting.

At the conclusion of the event, a discussion session was opened between the speaker and the participants, during which attendees emphasized the importance of regularly holding such awareness-raising workshops due to their positive role in strengthening both human rights and academic awareness.

This workshop aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting awareness and reinforcing human rights values within educational institutions.

Goal 5: Gender Equality, by fostering mutual understanding and respect among members of the university community.

Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by supporting a culture of human rights and encouraging fair practices within the academic environment.
