The College of Dentistry Organizes a Workshop on Enhancing Terrestrial Environmental Conservation and the Sustainable Use of Land

The Planning and Studies Division and the Sustainable Development Committee at the College of Dentistry organized, on Wednesday, December 3rd, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, a workshop titled: “Enhancing the Conservation of Terrestrial Environments and the Sustainable Use of Land.”
The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Salim Rabee Khallaf from the College of Environmental Sciences, with the attendance of Assistant Professor Dr. Neam Riyadh Saleem, Dean of the College, and Professor Dr. Ali Rajeh, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs.
This workshop comes in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on several key goals, including:
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Through explaining the impact of terrestrial pollution on water resources and the importance of protecting ecosystems to ensure safe water.
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
By highlighting the significance of adopting renewable energy and reducing harmful emissions that affect terrestrial environments.
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
By emphasizing the role of proper urban planning in protecting natural habitats and preventing expansion at the expense of land resources.
Goal 13: Climate Action
By raising awareness on the need for effective measures to mitigate climate change and its direct consequences on biodiversity.
Goal 14: Life Below Water
Through addressing the link between land degradation and the flow of pollutants into rivers and seas, and their impact on marine life.
At the conclusion of the workshop, an in-depth discussion took place between the presenter and the attendees.
