Workshop on the Concepts of Justice, Human Rights, the Promotion of Humanitarian Values, and Countering Extremism
Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Mosul and the respected Dean of the College of Dentistry, and within the activities of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Committee and the Human Rights Unit at the College of Dentistry, the College of Dentistry organized, on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, a workshop entitled:
“Concepts of Justice and Human Rights, the Promotion of Humanitarian Values, and Countering Extremism.”
The workshop featured a lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Sumaya Tariq Khudair, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences, on the concepts of justice and human rights, aiming to raise awareness of these concepts and to highlight their fundamental role in building a cohesive society based on respect for the rule of law and the protection of human dignity. The lecture also sought to promote noble humanitarian values embodied in tolerance, acceptance of others, and respect for intellectual and cultural diversity, thereby contributing to the consolidation of the principles of peaceful coexistence among members of society.
Furthermore, the lecture focused on explaining the dangers of intellectual extremism and its negative repercussions on societal security and stability, emphasizing the importance of adopting a moderate and balanced approach and rejecting violence and fanaticism. It also aimed to develop participants sense of national belonging and social responsibility, and to encourage their positive engagement in promoting a culture of human rights and disseminating moderate humanitarian thought within their social and institutional environments.
