Woman Empowerment Unit
Vision:
To empower women to become key contributors to achieving sustainable development in a nation that guarantees all their constitutional rights. The aim is to enable them to effectively confront challenges, enhance their roles across all sectors, and ensure their full protection and equal access—without discrimination—to economic, social, and political opportunities. These opportunities will allow them to elevate their capabilities, bringing prestige to the university, the ministry, and ultimately, the nation.
Mission:
To equip university women with the necessary skills and knowledge, and to foster their development, so they become competent and active societal leaders who participate in and influence critical decision-making processes. Strategically empowering them will raise the status of university women both in the present and the future.
Objectives:
This unit aims to achieve the following:
1. Increase the proportion of women in leadership positions by highlighting female competencies and achievements.
2. Develop women’s scientific capacities in higher education by facilitating and supporting their participation in local and international conferences.
3. Enhance women’s contribution to economic development through project support.
4. Garner support from local and international communities and organizations to help implement UN resolutions related to women.
5. Raise societal awareness of women’s status and rights to combat violence, by organizing more training sessions and conducting research in collaboration with specialized centers.
6. Improve the portrayal of women in all forms of media—visual, audio, and print.
7. Honor creative and distinguished Iraqi women in their fields of expertise through innovation awards or documentary films about their achievements.
8. Support young female researchers who produce outstanding work at an early stage in their academic journey, through specialized committees responsible for selecting and promoting exceptional research.
