Oral viva of master thesis at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/ College of Dentistry
College of Dentistry discussed M.Sc. Thesis entitled ” Comparison of Serratiopeptidase Enzyme and Steroids on Post-Operative Sequelae after Surgical Removal of Lower Wisdom Teeth (Split Mouth Study) ” on 5 September 2024 forwarded by Shahad Anwar Naqi. The study evaluated the effect of Serratiopeptidase Enzyme as compared to steroids in reducing post-operative discomfort and edema after surgical removal of wisdom teeth to enhance the quality of life post operatively. It was proved by the study that the application of Serratiopeptidase capsule has nearly the same effectiveness as compared to the Dexamethasone tablet in reducing post-operative pain and swelling and could be considered a promising alternative therapy in reducing the side effects in certain cases.
The examination committee was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Noor Abdullah Sulaiman / College of Dentistry/ University of Mosul and with supervision and membership of Prof. Dr Ziad Hazim Aldulaimy / College of Dentistry/ University of Mosul
