Oral viva of master thesis at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dentistry/ College of Dentistry

The College of Dentistry discussed the M.Sc. thesis entitled “Efficacy of Ozonated Gel on Healing Potential after Impacted Lower Third Molar Extraction” (Split-Mouth Study) on Monday, August 11, 2025. The study was submitted by Yaseen Salam Abd.

The research investigated the effectiveness of ozone-treated gel in reducing post-operative complications following the surgical extraction of mandibular third molars. It explored the potential of this gel as a viable alternative to other commonly used interventions. The study aimed to evaluate whether ozone-treated olive oil gel could enhance patients’ quality of life by reducing pain and swelling and improving mouth opening capacity after surgery for mandibular third molar removal.

The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rayan Salem Hamed from the College of Dentistry, University of Mosul, with committee members Assist. Prof. Dr. Buraa Sultan Manouh from the College of Dentistry, University of Al-Hadbaa, Assist. Prof. Noor Abdullah Suleiman, and under the supervision and membership of Lect. Dr. Saif Saad Ali and Lect. Dr. Ahmed Saleh Khudher, both from the College of Dentistry, University of Mosul.

The thesis was accepted after making the recommended corrections.
