College of Dentistry discussed M.Sc. thesis entitled ‘‘A Comparative Evaluation of Shaping Ability for Three Different Rotary Endodontic Systems on the Preparation of Mesial Canals for Mandibular First Molars (A Micro Computed Tomography Study)”, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Forwarded by Ghufran Waheed Hussein. The study investigated the shaping ability of three rotary endodontic systems—VDW.Rotate, 2Shape, and Wave One Reciproc—in preparation of the mesial canals of mandibular first molars, using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) to modify canal parameters before and after preparation. The evaluation included canal surface area and canal volume, un-instrumented areas in the apical third, and changes in canal curvature angle. The results revealed that all three shaping systems (VDW.Rotate, 2Shape, and Wave One Reciproc) produced significant changes in root canal morphology, including an increase in surface area and canal volume, as well as a reduction in canal curvature angle
