Discussion Session on Smart Cities and Their Importance
As part of the activities of the Department of Basic Dental Sciences at the College of Dentistry, University of Mosul, a discussion session was held on Sunday, 9 November 2025, titled: “Smart Cities and Their Importance.”
The session was delivered by Assistant Professor Shahla Hazem Kharofa, who addressed the objectives and prospects of developing modern cities through the adoption of digital technologies and smart systems in managing facilities and public services.
The lecture aimed to familiarize participants with the concept of smart cities and their core components, clarify the role of advanced technologies in enhancing quality of life and public services, and highlight the significance of transitioning toward smart cities in achieving sustainable development and optimizing resource consumption.
The discussion session was chaired by Professor Ghada Abdulrahman Taqa, Head of the Department, with the attendance of several faculty members from the Department of Basic Dental Sciences.
At the end of the session, Dr. Shahla responded to the attendees’ questions and inquiries related to the topic.
