The Environmental Research Center / University of Mosul participated in the functional training course on Renewable Energy and the Environment, organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Nineveh, from 16–24 August 2026, with the participation of 145 employees from the agricultural departments in Nineveh Governorate.

The course was held in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture, under the patronage of the Director General of the Agricultural Extension and Training Department, Eng. Muneer Ali Kreidi, and followed up by the Workforce Development Department.

A number of specialists contributed scientific lectures during the course, including:

• Dr. Taha Ahmed Al-Tayyar – Environmental Research Center / University of Mosul.
• Dr. Ali Basheer Aziz – Environmental Research Center / University of Mosul.

The lectures addressed several important topics, including the concept and sources of renewable energy and its applications in the agricultural sector, sustainable development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, renewable energy technologies in modern irrigation systems, smart agriculture, the economic benefits of renewable energy, biodiversity, and the integration of renewable energy with sustainability and food security.

The participation of the Environmental Research Center in this training course reflects its commitment to supporting scientific and practical approaches in renewable energy and environmental sustainability, as well as strengthening scientific cooperation between the University of Mosul and agricultural institutions in Nineveh Governorate.
