Environmental Researches Center

Under the patronage of the Nineveh Governor, Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, and in the presence of MP Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat, Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee, the Higher Center for Social Services held an extensive conference entitled “Our Path to Renewable Energy” on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Nineveh Governorate.

The conference witnessed participation from governmental and academic bodies, as well as international and local institutions, including Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Khair Al-Din Ibrahim, Director of the Environmental Research Center, and representatives from the Nineveh Local Government and the Northern Technical University, in addition to civil society organizations, religious and media figures, and a number of reputable companies specializing in the renewable energy sector.

The conference addressed the challenges and difficulties hindering the development of renewable energy projects in Iraq in general, and Nineveh Governorate in particular, with a focus on the importance of adopting clean energy sources as a strategic option for a sustainable future. Ways to enhance cooperation between government agencies and the private sector and activate the academic and research role in this vital field were discussed.

This conference comes within the framework of efforts to support the transition to sustainable energy, in line with national and international trends to reduce carbon emissions and achieve sustainable economic and environmental development in Iraq.
