As part of its initiatives aimed at supporting the environment and promoting volunteerism within the university community, the Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul launched a large-scale tree planting campaign as part of the “Seeds of Mercy” initiative, initiated by the university administration on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
The campaign was attended by the center’s director, Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Khair Al-Din Ibrahim, along with center staff, the principal and students of Ard Al-Rafidain Private Girls’ High School, and in cooperation with the university’s Department of Media and Government Communication.
The activity involved planting a number of saplings in various locations near the Environmental Research Center, a step aimed at expanding green spaces, improving the environmental and aesthetic appeal of the university campus, and instilling a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship among members of the university community.
This event comes as a continuation of the University of Mosul’s approach to adopting voluntary and green initiatives that contribute to raising the quality of the university work environment and creating a healthy, vibrant, and giving educational environment, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 15 (Life on Land)
