The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul Holds a Seminar on Carbon Footprint

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul held a seminar entitled “Carbon Footprint” on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The lecture was presented by Dr. Mai Abdul-Hafiz.
The lecture addressed the importance of the carbon footprint and its effects on the environment, as well as its relationship to sustainable development and the environment. This was achieved by calculating the amount of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, that can be emitted by an individual or institution as a result of certain environmental practices and activities.
The lecture also discussed some of the factors that contribute to increasing this footprint by calculating its quantity. Finally, it highlighted some of the measures taken to reduce and decrease this footprint.
These efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
