Meeting to Discuss Development of the Koha Cataloging System in University Libraries

As part of the efforts of the Mosul Studies Center, represented by its Director, Dr. Mohammed Nizar Al-Dabbagh, and in cooperation with the Studies and Planning Department – ​​Sustainable Development Unit/University of Mosul, to encourage administrative staff to participate in meetings and follow up on administrative tasks that serve the field of library work, Ms. Shahd Waadallah Yassin, Librarian at the Mosul Studies Center, attended a meeting held by the Secretary-General of Mosul University Libraries, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim Mohammed, with staff working on the Koha cataloging system in the university’s colleges and centers. During the meeting, the current state of the system was discussed, along with ways to improve performance and the challenges facing its implementation in the various college libraries. Methods for standardizing cataloging procedures across libraries and enhancing staff efficiency through continuous training were also discussed, ensuring the system’s sustainability and maximizing its benefits for the educational and research process.

This meeting is part of the university’s efforts to develop its digital infrastructure, improve the quality of library services, and enhance the role of the university library as a cornerstone in supporting scientific research and higher education, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 4, 5, 9, 16, and 17.
