Faculty members from the Mosul Studies Center attended a scientific symposium at the College of Arts

As part of the Mosul Studies Center’s commitment to attending Mosul cultural events and activities, Professor Amer Al-Jumaili, Dr. Aruba Jamil, Assistant Professor Mahdi Saleh Saeed, and Assistant Professor Kamal Ashour Khader, faculty members from the Mosul Studies Center, attended the scientific symposium held by the Ottoman Documents and Heritage Preservation Unit at the College of Arts. The symposium, titled “The Linguistic Roots of Some Common Terms and Words in the Mosul Dialect,” was held in Al-Salam Hall at the College of Arts. The symposium aimed to shed light on the linguistic roots of words used in the daily lives of the people of Mosul and to demonstrate their connection to Modern Standard Arabic or other languages with which they have interacted throughout history, such as Old Ottoman, Turkish, and other languages. The symposium featured the following lecturers:
1. Salem Yahya Khalaf
2. Assistant Professor Nihad Muhammad Ashour
2. Assistant Professor Duaa Kamal Mayouf
4. Assistant Professor Muhammad Hussein Ahmed
The symposium focused on highlighting the richness and authenticity of the Mosul dialect, and its role in preserving linguistic and cultural heritage.
