As part of a series of dialogue lectures held by the Mosul Studies Center and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nizar al-Dabbagh, Director of the Mosul Studies Center, and in cooperation with the University of Mosul Presidency – Department of Studies and Planning, the Mosul Studies Center organized a dialogue lecture on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the founding of Mosul Press. The lecture was delivered by: Professor Samer Elias Saeed, Director of Nineveh Education Directorate, Duhok Education Department, and moderated by: Professor Dr. Mahmoud Saleh Saeed, Head of the History Department, College of Arts.
The lecture was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in the Peace Hall, College of Arts, and was attended by professors from the History Department of the College of Arts and professors and staff from the Mosul Studies Center. The lecture addressed three main themes related to the personality of Younan Abbou al-Yunus, the first editor of the Ottoman Mosul newspaper, including his biography. A brief overview of his life, his role in establishing Mosul newspaper, and a presentation of his most prominent works were presented through three testimonials from the experienced professor Dr. Ibrahim Al-Allaf, the late Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Talib, and the late father Dr. Suhail Qasha. The lecture concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to the lecturer and moderator.
