…..
As part of the Mosul Studies Center’s efforts to monitor women-related activities, the Director of the Mosul Studies Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nizar Al-Dabbagh, attended the dialogue seminar, which was organized in cooperation between the University of Mosul, Al-Masalla Organization for Human Resources Development, and the High Commission for Human Rights/Nineveh Office. The seminar, titled (Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Security, and Peace: Implementation and Challenges), was part of the (Voice of Women in Nineveh) program. The seminar was held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Al-Furat Hall in the College of Engineering. A number of research papers were presented in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Rafel Hassan Hamid, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, and a number of department and division officials from the university presidency and colleges, along with representatives from several government departments. These papers shed light on the status of women and their empowerment in several areas, perhaps the most prominent of which are issues of forced displacement, domestic violence, the status of widows and families of martyrs, and people with special needs. The seminar also addressed the role of international and local organizations in supporting them by establishing small projects, involving women in the political process, and the status of Mosul women post-2017 and their contributions to achieving community peace. It also addressed mechanisms for implementing the above-mentioned resolution and field experiences. This contributed to the presentation of practical recommendations applicable within Nineveh Governorate. At the end of the seminar, the floor was opened for dialogue and discussion, questions were posed, and a set of proposals and recommendations were presented for the benefit of the seminar.
