As part of its ongoing efforts to develop academic and administrative performance, the Mosul Studies Center, in cooperation with the University of Mosul Presidency/Department of Studies and Planning, organized a specialized workshop entitled “The Duties of the Librarian and Her Role in Supporting Scientific Research.” The workshop was delivered by Ms. Shahd Waadallah Yassin, the Center’s Librarian, and moderated and presented by the Director of the Mosul Studies Center, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nizar Al-Dabbagh. A number of Center staff members attended the workshop, which was held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at the Mosul Studies Center. The workshop aimed to highlight the vital role played by the Center’s librarian in organizing sources and references, facilitating researchers’ access to information, and presenting the modern cataloging and classification mechanisms adopted in library management. The workshop included two main themes: the first addressed the daily and functional tasks of the librarian, while the second focused on the challenges facing library work in research institutions and ways to address them. The workshop also featured a practical demonstration of some of the electronic systems used for simplified indexing and book lending. In his opening remarks, the Director of the Mosul Studies Center, [Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Nizar Al-Dabbagh], emphasized the importance of this type of workshop in enhancing staff efficiency and developing the research work environment within the center. He praised the efforts of the librarian in serving researchers and graduate students.
