Based on the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research,
and under the patronage of
Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul,
and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Nizar Al-Dabbagh, Director of the Mosul Studies Center,
the Women’s Affairs Committee and the Human Rights Committee at the Mosul Studies Center, in cooperation with the Studies and Planning Department – ​​Sustainable Development Unit, the Women’s Affairs Unit, and the Human Rights Division/Presidency of the University of Mosul, held a workshop entitled:

(The Role of Women in Combating Poverty through Economic Empowerment)
Presented by: Assistant Professor Dr. Hanan Abdul-Khaliq Al-Sabawi/Mosul Studies Center
Workshop Management: Professor Dr. Maha Saeed Hamid/Mosul Studies Center
This took place on Thursday, November 13, 2025,
at 11:00 AM,
in the Mosul Studies Center building.

The workshop addressed several topics, which can be summarized as follows:
First: Defining the concept of poverty and its causes
Second: Defining empowerment and its types. Third: Women’s Economic Empowerment, which includes:

– Definition of economic empowerment
– The relationship between empowerment and poverty reduction
– Factors hindering women’s economic empowerment
– Effective ways to enhance women’s economic empowerment
