Tuesday, March 10, 2026
At 9:30 AM in the Center’s Art Hall. This workshop was organized by the center’s management, represented by the center’s director, to ensure the participation of administrative and functional staff in workshops and activities that serve the field of work and align with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding vital topics related to employee administrative work. The workshop was divided into several themes, the most important of which are:

1- Reducing Paper Consumption:
Paper is one of the most widely used materials in our daily lives, whether in schools, universities, government offices, companies, or even homes. Despite its great importance, its excessive use leads to negative environmental and economic impacts and increases pollution. Therefore, reducing paper consumption has become a crucial necessity in our time.

Paper is used in education, printing, books, official documents, packaging, and other fields, and has contributed to the dissemination of knowledge, culture, and education, and facilitated communication between people throughout the ages.

2- Problems of Excessive Paper Consumption: Excessive consumption leads to:
– An increase in paper waste in the environment.

– Increased pollution from paper mills. – Cutting down large numbers of trees, causing a decline in forests and green spaces.

– Wasting natural resources such as water and energy, as these are used in paper production.

3- Benefits of Reducing Paper Consumption:
When we reduce paper consumption, we achieve many benefits, including:
– Preserving trees and forests, as millions of trees are cut down annually to produce paper.

– Reducing environmental pollution.

– Saving money and resources.

– Reducing the amount of waste generated from its use.

4 Ways to Reduce Paper Consumption:

There are several ways to achieve this, including:
– Using electronic means and email for correspondence instead of paper printing whenever possible.

– Relying on electronic document archiving.

– Printing on both sides instead of single-sided.

– Reusing paper that has been written on one side.

– Using notebooks and books economically.

– Recycling used paper. 5- The Role of Institutions and Individuals in This Matter: Reducing paper consumption is a shared responsibility between individuals and institutions. Institutions can adopt electronic systems for many transactions and improve document management, while individuals can reduce paper consumption, conserve printing, and reuse paper whenever possible.

In conclusion, we say that reducing and conserving paper consumption is not just a simple act, but an important step towards protecting the environment and preserving natural resources for future generations. Let us all strive to use paper wisely and responsibly in a way that achieves the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goals 4, 9, and 12.
