In cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning – Sustainable Development Unit/Presidency of the University of Mosul, the Center held a workshop entitled: (Combating Poverty from a Social Justice Perspective)

The workshop was presented by: Dr. Kamal Ashour Khader/Mosul Studies Center

The workshop was managed by: Mr. Mahdi Saleh Saeed/Mosul Studies Center

This took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Mosul Studies Center. The workshop aimed to demonstrate that religion provides the ethical and humanitarian foundation for combating poverty by instilling values of solidarity and compassion. Society embodies this foundation practically through cooperation, humanitarian initiatives, and providing opportunities for those in need. The government plays a pivotal role in enacting equitable policies, providing essential services, and regulating resource distribution to reduce social inequality. Thus, the integration of all these roles contributes to achieving social justice in a practical manner and sustainably reducing poverty. The workshop was divided into two main themes. The first focused on the government’s role in reducing poverty, while the second emphasized the role of religion and society in combating and reducing this phenomenon, thereby achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 1, 3, 4, 8, and 10.
